AD Series VGA Extension Displays
|
 |
AD Series displays with VGA or Cat5 interface provide all the performance, reliability and unique styling of the AD Series for connection to media servers or other computing devices.
• AD Series displays with VGA interface will allow local connection to devices with a local VGA output. Generally speaking, displays need to be within 5 metres of the source.
• For applications requiring VGA distribution over greater distances, AD Series displays with integrated Cat5 interface can be used in conjunction with VGA extenders to achieve distances of up to 300 metres.
What is Cat5?
Distributing audio and video content for digital signage and other applications over Cat5 cabling is becoming increasingly prevalent and with good reason. Twisted pair cable or Cat5 cable is the modern solution to co-axial cable. It’s an established infrastructure in computer-orientated businesses and is routinely pre-installed into new buildings, so no additional cabling is required. Most commonly used to connect computer IP networks, it is increasingly also being used to carry video for distribution of TV and digital signage with significant management, scalability and flexibility advantages.
AD Series Displays with Cat5
AD Series displays with integrated Cat5 combine an AD Series display with a Cat5 receiver in one unit, providing an all-in-one terminal solution and streamlining your network. Without an integrated unit, Cat5 receivers need to be co-located with each display terminal, and connected by a VGA cable. As such, the additional cabling and power requirements of the receiver are right at the point of display where appearance is most important and space is at a premium.
As a receiver is required for each display terminal, an integrated unit significantly reduces the number of installation points, failure points and test points in a network
Additionally, most Cat5 receivers are powered units, each requiring their own power cable and power point. Using an integrated unit removes this requirement entirely.
